ABOUT US
Middle East Genocide and Bioethics Institute (MEGBEI) is an academic institute based in Erbil, Kurdistan region, Iraq that has been founded in 2023 by a group of medical doctors and experts. This institute works for improving the situation of genocide studies, bioethics, medical ethics, medical professionalism, health laws, health policies and diplomacies.
OUR MISSION
Being a regional pioneer in terms of bioethics and related topics in the Middle East, working for the sake of improvement by academic and research means.
OUR VISION
1- Being a pioneer in the filed of bioethics, medical ethics, human rights, health laws and genocide in the Middle East, and representing an international platform for that purpose of using the power of our academics, researchers, physicians, healthcare professionals, and students.
2- Working on the genocide from the perspective of medical ethics, and documenting the breaches of ethical codes which were exercised by the physicians following previous dictatorship regime agendas including Baath regime (Previous dictatorship regime of Iraq), as well as other deviations from standards of medical ethics which were done by physicians in the recent wars occurred in the entire region, including the terrorist invasion of ISIS.
3- Conducting a wide spectrum of educational activities including seminars, workshops, symposiums, conferences and trainings aiming at improving the academic and professional background of clinicians and healthcare professionals in terms of bioethics and medical ethics.
4- Conducting a wide spectrum of awareness activities for the general population who are outside the medical and biomedical circle (general public) about their rights as patients, and principles of bioethics, medical ethics and how they protect their right inside health sector.
5- Working on research programs on topics related to medicine, medical ethics, bioethics, human rights, health laws and genocide. Tracing the bioethics situation in the Middle East and using the data for international studies correlation and taking corrective actions accordingly through the stakeholders.
